Choosing the Best Home Security Camera System

The standard protocol for homes was to just keep their doors locked, especially at night, to stay safe. But with the alarmingly increasing crime rates, extra layers of protection have become necessary. Simple door locks no longer deter innovative burglars, thieves, and criminals—which is why it is time to upgrade your home with a state of the art security camera system to keep you and your family safe. There are various cameras in the market to choose from, but the most expensive ones are not always necessarily the right units for your home. In choosing a camera for your security system, you have to take into consideration a few factors, such as location and your specific needs.

The world of home security cameras often comes down to two choices: bullet cameras or dome cameras. They are named so because of their shape. A bullet camera has a tube-like shape, and is sometimes called the lipstick camera, while a dome camera is typically fitted inside a tinted dome-like case. Bullet cameras often have a longer range, which makes them ideal for outdoor areas such as a parking space or a backyard. However, they are more noticeable than a dome camera. The tint in the dome camera’s frame makes it harder to see where the camera is pointing. Dome cameras are also vandal-proof and feature 360-degree rotational capacity.

Make sure your camera is fitted for installation indoors and outdoors and that they can adjust themselves based on the lighting conditions. Most bullet cameras are also typically weatherproof, which makes them perfect for the outdoors. Meanwhile, dome cameras placed indoors in particularly low ceilings are nearly impossible to tamper. One of the most reputable security system sellers online offer high-quality security and surveillance products for the best price and fast shipping. They have over a thousand high-tech products that come with lifetime warranties.

5 Things to Know Before Buying CCTV Camera Power Supply

One of the most crucial factors in helping a CCTV camera function efficiently is uninterrupted power supply. In order for power to be correctly transmitted to your CCTV camera, it is important to have the best components. High-quality power supply components will ensure the smooth operation of your CCTV camera systems. Here are 5 things that you must know before buying a CCTV camera power supply:

A complex and complicated installation would not sit well with a CCTV camera system. As much as possible, installation and maintenance should be kept simple and convenient.

• The functioning of the equipment must be monitored

Technicians whose job is to maintain CCTV camera systems and associated power supply units should be able to monitor the equipment. High-quality products would have an easy LED interface on the cover, which will help determine the functioning, as well as aid in troubleshooting.

• DVRs are important.

The DVR or digital video recorder plays a crucial role in monitoring and recording footages captured with the CCTV camera. The DVR has to function smoothly in order for viewing of live footage to be possible. One of best DVR power supply models that you can get is the DVR-FH Power, which is a compact unit that can power Pro-Visual models of DVRs.

• The cheapest CCTV camera power supply is not necessarily the best deal.

Buying a very cheap replacement can cost you a lot more money in the long run. For instance, a substandard power supply unit may fail to work, hence leaving your camera system unable to monitor important footages. Or worse, a low-quality power supply can even damage other equipment.

• Consider buying online.

Online security solutions providers would usually offer CCTV camera power supply units at affordable rates without compromising quality. Make sure to choose a reputable and established shop.

HDCVI – The Low-Cost HD Security Camera

Surveillance cameras usually do not come cheap—especially the highly-sophisticated ones that can provide higher-quality and clearer videos. However, there are low cost alternatives to pricey security cameras and you can consider them for your home or business. The HDCVI is a good option in low cost HD security cameras. The name stands for high definition composite video interface, and it uses technology that transmits video signals in a different method over coaxial cables.

Before HDCVI, analog CCTV was the norm. The problem was its resolution, which was limited only to 960h—meaning, there is a 30 percent increase in the horizontal resolution, resulting in a 960 x 480-pixel maximum resolution. To improve transmission, you would usually have to upgrade to digital video via HDSDI or network IP formats. With HDCVI, you can have a cost-effective network IP solution that relies on a video transmitter and a receiver that can transmit videos in a resolution of up to 1080p or 1920 x 1080 pixels. The videos are uncompressed and can be sent over standard coaxial cables used in conventional CCTV camera systems.

The uncompressed video of HDCVI can be transmitted over longer distances without bandwidth and latency issues, which were common with conventional network IP and HDSDI cameras. HDCVI can transmit control (PTZ or OSD), audio, and video over a coaxial cable, too, so you do not have to worry about having separate cables for every kind of transmission. HDCVI systems cost almost the same as older CCTV analog technology, but they are far more affordable than IP network or HDSDI cameras. Hence, if you have to choose between analog CCTV and HDCVI, consider going for the latter to get higher resolution for your money. Some providers of security surveillance cameras solutions give free software to enable remote moving, and surveillance apps for your tablets and smartphones to go with the HDCVI system.

How to Set Up an HD IP Camera System

Setting up a security camera that is capable of running over a wireless network is a good way to keep tabs on your property, especially when you are away. Known as the ‘IP camera’, the system is easy to install and position, and they do the job well as long as you have reliable internet access. You can purchase an HD IP camera system from an established and trustworthy distributor of security camera systems. Some distributors offer free delivery and a lifetime warranty on HD IP camera systems, too. Once you get yours, use this quick guide to set it up:

  1. Find the right spot for it – Before anything else, determine where the HD IP cameras must be positioned. Make sure that they are close to power outlets and that each camera can easily pick up signals from your Wi-Fi router. Some systems may require you to use a Wi-Fi stumbler app to help you find nearby networks that are strong enough for a clear and steady stream of video.

  2. Configuring the wireless network camera – The setup process usually varies depending on the brand of the HD IP camera, but the steps are mostly similar. Start by plugging it into the outlet near the Wi-Fi router and connect it via Ethernet to the router. Otherwise, use the connected Ethernet switch. An HD IP camera system should come with a software or setup wizard that should start up as soon as the camera is plugged in. Make sure that the computer is using the same network as the HD IP camera. Moreover, make sure that the camera is using the latest firmware. Upgrade it if it is outdated.

  3. Set up motion detection – Once you get the wireless camera to work, you must be able to see whatever it is in its field of view from anywhere. The next step is to configure motion detection features, so you do not have to watch what is happening 24/7. With motion detection, anything that changes in the scene (i.e. someone moves in front of the camera or something goes missing from the camera’s field of view) will be noted, and you will be notified.
